效果因體質而定。一般而言，因為激光脫毛是利用毛囊中色素對激光的優先吸收來進行治療的，因此皮膚白皮膚白皙而毛髮較粗黑的，能吸收大量激光射線，效果較理想；

相反對於淺色或太幼細的毛髮，則較難徹底清除。如果皮膚黑，或者皮膚顏色較深，而毛髮顏色相對較淡，治療效果要受到影響。

黑色膚質的人，在治療時有可能也吸收部分激光能量，從而對皮膚產生一定的損傷，因此換句話說，皮膚顏色特別黑或曬黑肌膚的人便不適合進行激光脫毛。皮膚曬得黝黑，皮膚可能因此被灼傷，當激光能量穿透皮層時，除毛髮吸收光束能量外，毛囊四周皮膚的黑色素也會受影響，導致灼傷。

接受療程前，三星期內避免長時間曝曬，也不要拔掉毛髮﹔治療前後應使用性質溫和的產品，不要使用含果酸及酒精的護膚品及磨砂產品。請勿使用過熱的水沖洗治療部位。

請勿做劇烈運動、焗桑拿浴、蒸氣浴或練習高溫瑜伽。為免感染，請勿到泳池或海灘游泳、或浸泡溫泉。請勿穿著緊身衣物或絲襪，讓治療部位乾爽透氣。

如有癌症、紅斑狠瘡、皮膚長期生癬、曝曬後皮膚變黑、麻疹、白蝕、懷孕等身體狀況，都不適宜進行激光療程。
